Big Waterfall

If you head out of town about 2 km along the main dirt that leads out to Maningrida you reach a side track that heads of towards the escarpment. If you follow that for about 3 or 4 kms you come to a waterfall which the locals call "Big Waterfall" (there is a smaller waterfall in the other direction from town, hence the name).

About two weeks ago we had a relief teacher here named Denis who I knew a few years ago when he was a teacher at another community called Lajamanu. It turns out that he did a year here in Gunbalanya in between. Anyway whilst he was here he took me out to see the Big Waterfall, but unfortunately at that point it was completely dry.


However we have had a couple of big storms in the past week so I decided to head back out to see if things had changed.
